    T
he lens produces a variable horizontal expand to the projected image from factors of 1.0 up to 1.35, thus supporting perfectly the constant height 2.40:1 Cinemascope setup. An internal ‘pass’ mode makes it possible to produce a normal wide screen picture with a 1.78:1 source material, without removing the lens. Also the other aspect ratios, such as 1.85:1 and 2.0:1 are possible due to this unique feature of a variable Prismasonic lens. This all means that despite of the aspect of a source material, your projector always presents a constant picture height with the full panel resolution, exactly as in real movie theaters. Also with the 2.4:1 aspect ratio produced by the lens, the picture has around 15% more luminance compared to the zoomed picture of same size and projected from the same throw distance. This is due to taking the unused pixels of black bars into the use with the aid of our anamorphic lens.
  • The prisms of P-100 series have been finished by the optical glass using the highest possible specification parameters during the manufacturing process. In order to correct the chromatic aberration, the product has an achromatic optics, which means that the both lenses are made by two glass materials of different optical properties. All the air-glass surfaces have broad band anti-reflection coatings to prevent reflections and ghosting, and to maximize the light output of the projector. The additional optical Front Element corrects the focus of an anamorphic expand, simultaneously for all horizontal expand factors.
  • The lens is available in black finished aluminum. A professional table stand has a friction based, individual controls for both height and tilt adjustments. Both shelf and ceiling mounting are conceivable. As a nice feature the housing has a removable bottom plate. Thus it is convenient to clean the optics from both sides.
  • The operation of this remote controlled lens is straightforward. The other button of remote controller expands the image to fill the 2.40:1 screen, while the other returns it back to 1.78:1. There are adjustable terminal stops for both prisms and both modes, so the initial setup can easily be operated to match the different screens and projectors perfectly.
  • The motors are very silent, and it lasts around two seconds for prisms to go from ‘pass’ to ‘wide’ position. This speed also enables to stop the prisms accurately to the intermediate positions, such as 1.85:1 or 2.0:1. The remote controller has two powerful IR LEDs, which can effortless control the lens even at the very largest theater rooms from the seat, via screen, back to lens unit. The IR commands can also be transferred to the universal remote controller.

Delivery time 7 to 10 days.

Description of Chromatic Aberration

In optics, chromatic aberration (CA) is a type of distortion in which the lens is not able to focus all colors to the same convergence point. It occurs because lenses have a different refractive index for different wavelengths of light (the dispersion of the lens). Chromatic aberration manifests itself as "fringes" of color along boundaries that separate dark and bright parts of the image, because each color in the optical spectrum cannot be focused at a single common point.

An achromatic lens design corrects the effects of chromatic aberration. It brings two wavelengths (typically red and blue) into focus in the same plane. Both P-100 and C-100 series use pair of achromatic doublets, which are composed of two individual lenses made from glasses with different amounts of dispersion.

Description of AR Coating

An antireflective or anti-reflection (AR) coating is a type of optical coating applied to the surface of lenses and other optical devices to reduce reflection. This improves the efficiency of the system since less light is lost.

All Prismasonic lens models use very advanced coatings that give very low reflectivity (R < 0.5%) over a broad band.

Description of Astigmatism

An optical system with astigmatism is one where rays that propagate in two perpendicular planes have different focus. Without correction, the optical system where magnification is only to one dimension produces an astigmatism, where the vertical and horizontal lines will be in sharp focus at two, slightly different distances, thus compromising the sharpness.

Astigmatism can be much improved in prism design by a fixed additional optical element (P-100 series), and corrected precisely with the cylinderical lens design of continuously movable lens element (C-100 series).
