Epson LS10000 demo night
The invitations had gone out a few weeks before. It was the first demo night for Rapallo at its new location in East Tamaki. On June 18th, Nick, Bram and Bart showcased the new Epson LS10000 laser projector. Due to the strong interest from our Rapallo customers, the Rapallo team organised 3 sessions at 5, 6 and 7pm. Over a dozen of customers enjoyed the beers and pizzas, but what they really came for was a New Zealand first: The Epson LS10000.
Consistently, at all 3 sessions, people thought the projector was larger than they had expected. They were all impressed by the quality of the build and the size of the “monster”. The chit-chatting went off on a tangent at times, reflecting on the fact that the new Rapallo lab is a great asset for the (South)-Auckland market. There are less and less Hi-fi/Home Theatre demo rooms (if any) in South Auckland so it was great to get recognised by our customers for making the move from Grey Lynn to East Tamaki.
In all 3 sessions we introduced the Epson LS10000 by going through a few menus and showing how to calibrate the projector. It took us 10 minutes to set it up, what a breeze!
The Epson’s features did impress: the blacks are really black, it is whisper quiet at only 12dB (people consistently mentioned how quiet this projector really is), colour brightness at 1,500 lumens is absolutely stunning. The 4k upscaling was fine but it could be argued that the 4k source material was quite limited, for example the Interstellar “4k trailer” was shot in IMAX, not 4k….. We also spoke about the lens memory feature (saving zoom and position settings to switch between different video formats with the press of a button).
It was good fun watching the crowd go quiet when we got the room pitch black and played the opening fighting scene of Star Wars episode III. The surround sound was impressive (even though our lab is far from acoustically perfect), but more importantly, the star of the night performed flawlessly. The Epson LS10000 is truly a piece of technology to respect.
We ended every session with a 3D experience, letting Legolas, Bilbo and the dwarves loose on the Orcs in the second Hobbit movie. Everyone seemed to enjoy the high quality 3D glasses that come with the Epson projectors.
We feel encouraged by the customers who attended to keep the format and keep going with more demo nights. All 3 sessions were really interactive, with lots of questions and answers, in a very casual and easy-going atmosphere. We have ideas for the next few demoes but if you have an idea, do drop us an email at [email protected] or post your idea on our Facebook page.
