Features
Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes – good things become even more exquisite
Advance Paris states that they want to make good things even better, because the new Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes is basically based on the Advance Paris WTX-StreamPro, which the French hi-fi manufacturer brought onto the market in 2018.
This solution already proved to be extremely exciting, as it offered a very flexible streaming client at a particularly attractive price, which was also designed in such a way that it could be easily combined with various audio systems, from hi-fi or AV systems to compact micro hi-fi solutions or even active speaker systems alone.
Audio streaming based on UPnP
The Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes is thus also designed as a dlna-certified UPnP streaming client. This means that the only actual industry standard is used here and thus a multitude of corresponding apps can be used for simple, convenient control. However, the manufacturer also offers a suitable app for Apple iOS and Google Android.
The Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes is capable of playing back content from your own network, such as data stored on a PC or Mac, or on a central network storage solution, a so-called NAS.
Access to streaming services such as:
- TIDAL and Qobuz is possible,
- Spotify, vTuner and TuneIn,
- the Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes supports Apple AirPlay and even offers multi-room audio streaming.
Optional Bluetooth
The Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes has a proprietary interface that allows the addition of a Bluetooth module. Advance Paris offers two options for this. The Bluetooth dongles Advance Paris X-FTB01 and Advance Paris X-FTB02 are available.
Signal processing with DAC from Texas Instruments
The signal processing is done by a Burr-Brown converter from Texas Instruments Inc., specifically a TI PCM1796 DAC, which supports signals with up to 24 bits and 192 kHz.
Class A tube output stage
The real special feature of the new Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes, however, is that it uses a Class A output stage equipped with Raytheon 5703 miniature tubes. According to the manufacturer, this is to achieve a typically warm, less aggressive, lively sound.
Audio signals from the new Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes are output via a pair of RCA sockets on the analogue level, but there is also the option of passing on signals digitally via an optical as well as coaxial S/PDIF interface.
Compact and elegant
Advance Paris describes the new Advance Paris WTX-Stream Tubes as a solution in the design line typical for the manufacturer. The compact metal housing is black, the controls are silver. What is striking here, however, is the small “window” at the front, which gives a view of the Raytheon 5703 miniature tubes.
