Description
Advance Paris X-P700 Stereo Preamplifier
The Advance Paris X-P700 Stereo Preamplifier is really very complete: nine analog inputs including one balanced, and an MM/MC phono. Digital side: two optical inputs, one coaxial input, one USB-B (Xmos) and one USB-A. The DAC is the powerful Burr Brown PCM 1796 -24 bit/192 kHz converter. On the output side, the X-P700 offers an RCA coupled with a balanced XLR, plus one high pass output and two for the sub. Headphone enthusiasts are pampered: two front inputs (6.35 and 3.5 jack) plus a double independent gain adjustment +6, 0, -4 dB and output impedance 0 or 100 ohms below.
The X-P700 is very seriously built, starting with the understated 10mm black methacrylate front panel, common to the Classic Line. But the interior is more revealing: two high-capacity toroidal transformers feed filtered and regulated dual mono power onto the motherboard, also containing the preamplification stages. The quality of the MC adjustable high and low level phono stage, as well as the MM capability is remarkable for this budget, hard to imagine better.
In summary, at the price at which the new X-P700 is offered, it is difficult to offer better options. Advance Paris didn’t skimp on the quality of components, decoding or power, the kind of attention that counts when listening.
The X-P700 is the ideal preamplifier, it can be combined with our range of power amplifiers such as the famous X-A160 (or EVO), X-A220 (or EVO), BX2 or the new Audiophile grade power amplifier. Good listening. Discover !

Features
- Lots of inputs and flexibility
- Good headphone output
- Unique design, beautifully executed
- Light warm, catchy sound
- Lots of power
The unit is assembled in a full dual mono format, starting with a pair of toroidal transformers in two power supplies. The circuitry corresponds to the proprietary ideology of “the most direct signal processing” Direct Path. The preamplifier itself, which uses bipolar JFETs, can operate in two modes – pure A and more traditional AB. Advance Paris claims distortion less than 0.007% with a signal-to-noise ratio of better than 103 dB.
The X-P700 switches nine analog inputs, one of which is balanced, and one is the input of the MM/MC phono stage. From digital connections, there are two optical inputs, coaxial and USB-B (XMOS XU208-128-TQ64 from Texas Instruments), as well as one USB-A. Built-in DAC – Burr Brown PCM 1796, working out resolutions up to 24 bit / 192 kHz.
The outputs are also diverse: in addition to the line signal in balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) versions, there are high-frequency crossover outputs and two subwoofer outputs.
Headphone lovers are not forgotten: Advance Paris X-P700 received a dedicated amplifier for this purpose, with dual independent gain control of +6, 0, -4 dB and a choice of output impedance – 0 or 100 Ohm. The front panel has two outputs to choose from, for jacks 6.35 and 3.5 mm. The panel itself is made of 10 mm thick black methacrylate, which is typical for the Classic Line models.
