Description
The F1-10 is the first model in our high end F1 series.
The design is truly unique and the innovative feature list is outstanding. From the massive 16kg plinth to the intricate burr walnut inlay on the front and top of the cabinet, every element of the loudspeaker has been meticulously considered to ensure stunning audio performance combined with exquisite aesthetic appeal. The first finish available will be a luxurious high gloss walnut with burr walnut inlay on the front baffle and the top of the speaker. The high density pressed birch ply with extensive internal bracing provides exceptional structural rigidity for low colouration. A heavy weight machined aluminium platform, provides exceptional stability for precise low frequency performance and resolution of fine detail and also integrates port energy to the room. Heavy duty support cones, adjustable from above enable precise levelling while machined aluminium cups provide protection for wooden floors.
IsoFlare Point Source Driver
FYNE AUDIO’S 10” (250mm) IsoFlareTM driver is a point source system whereby the bass/ midrange driver shares a common centre with the high frequency unit. Providing outstanding stereo imaging even off axis, energy is radiated isotropically with constant directivity, following the flare of the driver cone. Sound is produced emanating from a single point, giving truly spherical wavefront generation. This preserves the harmonic structure of complex sounds, recreating the true acoustic soundfield. Giving total integration of energy at the crossover point, the loudspeaker is less dependent on room location.
The high frequency unit features a highly rigid 3” titanium HF diaphragm for smooth and unstressed performance, with a massive Neodymium magnet incorporating a vented rear chamber to place low frequency resonance well below the crossover region. This enables a very low 750Hz crossover point giving a realistic rendition of vocals. A high power edgewound aluminium voice coil on a Kapton former utilises a copper shorting ring for low distortion. The annular waveguide has a computer optimised expansion rate and geometry to provide flat frequency response and avoid internal reflections.
On the low frequency section a multi-fibre paper cone gives natural sounding midrange and clean transient behaviour. The twin roll fabric surround effectively terminates cone energy, without time-smearing. The high power LF motor system uses a ferrite magnet, with rectangular copper voice coil on aluminium former, to aid power dissipation. The complete unit is built into a rigid cast aluminium chassis to eliminate unwanted vibrations and is coupled to the internal bracing through compliant damping mastic.
BassTrax Tractrix Diffuser System
The F1-10 employs a downwards firing port system using twin cavity reflex loading. This loading technique broadens the tuning frequency to reduce cone excursion and acts as a muffler, blocking standing waves produced by the main internal port. Below the vent in the base of the loudspeaker, the BassTrax ™ Tractrix profile diffuser (patent applied for) is used to convert the plain wave energy to an expanding spherical 360-degree wavefront, integrating energy uniformly into the room. This makes the loudspeaker less critical of room positioning. This Tractrix profile has been previously applied to horn loudspeakers by Voight in the 1920’s, but the application to a diffuser of this type is thought to be novel. The BassTrax ™ Tractrix profile is known to maintain a 90 degree angle at each intersection of the expanding wavefront, thus avoiding reflections.
