Lounge Home Theatre

The Lounge Home Theatre has taken a few years, but the final result is stunning.

We were approached by the client a few years ago and helped them to upgrade their lounge. Roll forward a few years later and the client has come back to upgrade the setup with a new front array, new rear speakers, a bigger TV and some lovely acoustic paneling.

Our team worked with the client at Rapallo and went thru the options to upgrade his existing system including some demo’s to assist with the choice. The client purchased a larger TV, and some acoustic paneling externally, so we could install them all at once.

The cabinet and shelves we built for the client a few years ago, and they assist to tidy the gear and provide some nice ambiance.

We are yet to do the final sound calibration, but we have to say it looks amazing.

PROJECT:

St Dominics Church AV Upgrade

The St Dominics Church AV Upgrade has been a work in progress over the past 12 month. Helping them to bring more sound and better images to the church.

Our first project onsite was the upgrade of the old projector and a new Indigo screen. We integrated these with the presentation station to allow better visual content from the front seats the rear seats.

Late May 2024 we have now upgraded the sound, to provide a stronger sound for the events in the church. This included new ceiling mounted Australian Monitor speakers and a 4 microphone receiver.

The upgrades have so far improved the services and made the space more user friendly for other groups.

PROJECT:

Tamaki Heights Theatre Room

The Tamaki Heights Theatre Room started over a year ago when the client was looking to create a multi-use room with a nicely optioned theatre setup.

The room was spec’d to use all in-wall speakers and a pair of speakers for the atmos. A Indigo fixed frame acoustic screen was fixed to the wall to create the image space. A Sony projector was ceiling mounted at the rear of the room and it was all controlled via a Denon AV Receiver. Providing the “bass” were a pair of SVS SB-1000 subwoofers.

The client took over the keys just before Xmas 2023 and we were contacted to do the final installation in the Tamaki Heights Theatre Room. As the room wasn’t furnished, we did an initial base calibration and are awaiting the call from the client to complete this once they have the room furnished. Some acoustic treatment will help and this will be assessed when we do the final calibration and room test.

PROJECT:

Half Moon Bay Movies

We started working in this home when the client needed a new amp to replace a blown unit. Since then Rapallo have updated a lot of componentry and helped them to develop their “Half Moon Bay Movies” home theatre room downstairs.

This project in the theatre room started with the addition of a new projector, updated amplifier, atmos speakers and a pair of front heights. We opened up the walls and added new cabling and positioned the speakers based on the ideal seated position based on the screen. Our plastering partner then plastered and painted the cable holes and the room was closed up and finished off.

A few months later we then built and installed a custom cabinet that worked with the room and the gear it was to store. It was requested that the cabling was hidden and it needed to be on castors. Our team did a great job in covering off these items for the client.

Lastly, during August 2023 the room was carpeted (as it had wooden floors), so we came on site and removed all the gear. The electrical team came onsite and installed a power point for the cinema seating, and then we re-installed all the gear and re-calibrated the room.

While there we also updated the splitter and added a new HDMI extender to get the SKYTV content up to the master bedroom.

Our team are really happy with the outcome, with potentially some acoustic treatment next on the list to balance the room and to remove the echo in some points.

Harrisville Home Theatre

The Harrisville Home Theatre Project started like most. A quick visit to Rapallo with the statement “I am building a new house and I want…. “. So we helped the client through the initial steps of the project all the way through to room completion.

We came onsite to scope the work and went thru the clients needs. There were some challenges to due to door placements and some architectural constraints but we came up with solutuns and then presented them back. Post this we have a few conversations on the specs and styles with final approval then given. The project consisted of a home theatre space with configured around a 140″ screen and in the 7.1.2 format for the sound.

Our teams came onsite to do the initial pre-wire after the roof was on and while the framing was still exposed. Post painting and gibstopping, we installed all the speakers (included custom painted grilles) and then finally once all the dust was settle in the build, we did the final install, setup and calibration. Next on the list of two-do’s, once the client has finished the build & landscaping, is the room acoustics for the theatre room.

Conference Room Video Conferencing

Our client, an Auckland based Advertising Agency had moved into their new premises and had cobbled together some video conferencing in their boardroom. They contacted us as it wasn’t working correctly and they wanted to update the platform to be more user friendly, and to provide an improved sound.

We came onsite to scope the work and went thru the clients needs. From there the Rapallo team created a platform that would work with the present screen, the NUC and projector.

Hidden Home Theatre Room

Our client had just purchased a new home and wanted to build a hidden home theatre room in the garage area. We supported our client in the build with some ideas and then supplied the product for the finished room.

We went onsite when they purchased the home and did an initial consultation based on the room he wanted to build. Our team then provided a hardware spec and completed the pre-wire / speaker placement.

When the room was completed, we came onsite and did the installation, the calibration and installed a rack for the AV gear.

It all came together nicely based on the clients budget and requirements.

PROJECT:

Business Training Space Fitout

Our client approached us as they had a new office being fitted out and it needed some AV for the training rooms and spaces.

We came onsite before the project kicked-off and did a pre-build walk thru of the requirements with them and discussed options. Our team then scoped the project and provided an itemized estimate for them, plus also ran through the options. One of the main requirements was to ensure the products and the installation fitted into the environment, were flexible and easy to use.

Once approved, we commenced the installation work over 3 days. Starting with the installation of two TV’s in two training rooms, plus the addition of a generic Video Conferencing platform in the main boardroom.

Our team then moved to the main training area to begin a day of pre-wiring the setup. We then installed the speakers for the sound (for the projected content) and the speakers for the microphone platform.

Next on the list was hanging the dual projectors and twin 120″ motorised screens, and finally the rack. All the cabling is contained in metal cable conduits to fit with the style of the space, this is an important aspect we work hard to achieve on most projects.

On completion of the building work, we did the final fit-off and tested the platform, then trained the team on how to use it. It looks fantastic and works a treat.

PROJECT:

Office Presentation Space

Our client does high-end office fit outs, and for a recent project they needed a small easy to use Office Presentation Space.

We came onsite before the project kicked-off and did a pre-build walk thru of the requirements. Our team then scoped the project and provided an itemised estimate for the project manager.

Once approved, and when they were ready, we did the pre-wire work. On completion of the building work, we then did the final fit-off and tested the platform. Works a treat. The projector is connected to the screen, so when it is on, the screen drops (or raises). We added a Blustream HDMI wall plate to then allow them to connect a source and use it with the Optoma UHZ-50 projector.

PROJECT:

A Bar With A Theatre

During a home renovation, our Auckland based client decided they wanted to add a simple home theatre space in an unused area, a Bar With A Theatre.

We came onsite to do a site measure and discuss options. Our team then spec’d the room and provided an itemised estimate based on the clients desired budget. Once approved, all the gear was ordered into the client installation bay at Rapallo and the pre-wire commenced.

Once the room was completed, we then cam onsite and did the final fit-off and setup. The projector and sound was calibrated and we then trained the client on operating the system. Finally a few weeks later, after some use, we went back and did a final full calibration.

Now in the completed space, the client had a fantastic area to watch movies, play games and watch sports. All aligned to the bar area to enable entertaining and entertainment. A fantastic outcome.
